John O'Keefe has a nice sailboat, and has offered to take those interested in a short sailing adventure. If that sounds good to you, please contact John via jpo@att.net. At this time, John's intent is to do this in Sequim Bay. He writes:
Light winds (or no wind) are a seasonal possibility from late July into early August. Hopefully we will have good wind conditions for sailing that weekend, but if not, we can still motor around the bay. If wind conditions are good, 'guests' can assist in sailing the boat. If they prefer to chill, and just enjoy the ride, that is cool too.
Although my 32’ boat has berthing to sleep 6, I’d like to keep the groups sized in the 2-4 range. With less crowding in the cockpit, it will be more comfortable for everyone, especially when underway. That is also the number of PFDs I have on board to loan. More available if needed, but they might be public loaners from the rack at the launch ramp.
Depending on conditions, let’s plan on scheduling for the following times:
Friday: 10:00 / 12:00 / 2:00
Saturday: 10:00 / 12:00 / 2:00
Included in the 2 hour window is time required to board, receive a safety briefing from me, get a PFD fitted, sail for about an hour, and then return to dock.
Anyone attending the Gather that is interested can email me directly jpo@att.net with their name(s), preferred time slot, and if they’d like to be grouped with anyone.
Once I have contact info and time preferences for those interested, I’ll set up a schedule and send additional details to those that have responded. (i.e. footwear - sneakers best, no motorcycle boots) "
